Wow first there was Gay Fuel marketed by Specialty Spirits, LLC towards the gay community, using the slogan “GET FIRED UP.” The can was silver with several rainbow stripes according to Wikipedia in 2008, the official website has gone offline. Then there was Gay Up in Latin America which may still be around ,… but now we are hearing about several more popping up. Just because “Gay” is in the name the gay community will not automatically embrace it! Look at that popular Rock ..type brand that  has been all over West Hollywood despite rumors for years the family behind it was very anti-gay.

At the end of the day – smaller brands need to take on social values of their customers by giving something back. We hope all these brands do well – both by making fair profits but also doing well by their customers. Remember every time you buy you may be voting… so go with companies and brands you trust…. with so many conglomerates and subsidiaries its hard to know who owns what and what views they really support.
